Carignan 2018

Vineyard Collection

From Les Rebouls and Le Colombier vineyards here in Tuchan. This red wine is very much alive and kicking with red berry fruits, spice and pepper. Carignan is the bad boy grape of the Languedoc. It was prized for its high yields which made a less than average wine and went into most of the blended wine in this area. Now it is seeing something of a renaissance as old vines (and mine are over 100 years old) and small yields make a lovely, concentrated, big wine.

I have very strict criteria when buying my vineyards. The vines have to be old (the older the better), they have to be on slopes and they have to have a great view. Les Perles Carignan comes from 2 such vineyards one in Paziols and one in Tuchan The vines are over 100 years old and despite their age give a great freshness and youth to the wine.
